Frequently Asked Questions

Where does CarrierMetric get its data?

All carrier data comes from publicly available FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) sources, including the SAFER system, SMS data, crash reports, inspection records, and insurance filings. Our data pipeline refreshes daily.

What do the risk scores mean?

CarrierMetric calculates a composite risk score (0-100) based on four pillars: Safety Performance (30%), Compliance Behavior (25%), Financial/Admin Stability (30%), and Operational Stability (15%). Higher scores indicate lower risk. Click "Score Guide" on any carrier profile for detailed methodology.

How do I save carriers to My Book?

After searching for a carrier in the Risk Engine, click the "Save Result" button in the top bar. Saved carriers appear in My Book where you can monitor them for changes.

How do daily alerts work?

If you're on the Ultimate plan, CarrierMetric checks your saved carriers daily for changes — new crashes, violations, insurance changes, authority actions, and score movements. You'll receive an email summary at 8:00 AM CST when changes are detected.

How do I use the API?

Ultimate plan subscribers can generate an API key from their account settings. See the API Documentation for endpoints, authentication, rate limits, and code examples.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to your profile menu, click "Billing & Payments", and use the Stripe customer portal to manage or cancel your subscription. You'll retain access until the end of your current billing period.

Can I export data?

Yes. The Risk Engine offers a "Due Diligence Report" export for individual carriers. The Lead Engine includes a CSV export for search results.
